A Letter From Our Founder
What's up Trini Born Family?
Listen, if you're here, chances are we have something in common.
Maybe you were born in Trinidad & Tobago. Maybe your parents were. Maybe your grandparents were. Or maybe you simply understand what it means to carry a piece of home with you wherever life takes you.
My name is Akiel, and I started Trini Born because I wanted to create something that felt familiar.
I was born in Trinidad and moved to the United States as a child. Like many people in the Caribbean diaspora, I spent years learning how to balance where I came from with where I was going. No matter how much life changed, there were always things that stayed with me: the food, the music, the sayings, the stories, the laughter, and the pride that comes with being Trini.

The older I got, the more I realized culture isn't just where you're from. It's something you carry.
It's the song that instantly changes your mood.
It's stopping for doubles when you see the stand.
It's the way family can turn any gathering into a lime.
It's hearing that accent and immediately feeling at home.
That's what Trini Born is about.
This brand was created to celebrate the people, memories, traditions, and experiences that connect us. Not through costumes. Not through stereotypes. Through pieces designed to fit into your everyday life while still honoring where we come from.
Every design starts with a conversation about culture. Sometimes it's a memory. Sometimes it's a food. Sometimes it's a feeling that only another Trini would understand.
Whether you're living in Trinidad, New York, Toronto, London, Miami, or anywhere else in the world, my hope is that when you wear Trini Born, you're reminded that home isn't always a place.
Sometimes it's something you carry with you.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting a small business. Most importantly, thank you for helping keep our culture alive in your own way.
Welcome to the family.
